About Agriculture Awards

Every meal starts with someone who farms.

On farms across the UK, in every season and every kind of weather, farmers and growers produce the food the country depends on while looking after the land for the next generation.

The Agriculture Awards exist to recognise the farmers, growers, farm teams and rural businesses whose skill, care and enterprise make it happen.

Early starts.

Long harvests.

Finally, recognised.

Why we exist

Farming feeds everyone. Farmers are rarely thanked.

A shepherd out on the hill at lambing, night after night.

A dairy farmer who has not missed a milking in years.

A young farmer who took on a tenancy with nothing but determination.

A family farm getting ready to hand over to the next generation.

A contractor working through the night to beat the rain.

Farmers spend every day looking after land, animals and other people's food.

This time the recognition is for them.

“We saw the work.”

“Thank you.”

Who we celebrate

From the hill farm to the farm shop.

Farmers, growers, young farmers, farm workers, family farms, contractors, suppliers, advisers and the rural businesses around them.

The Farmer

Whose year stood out from the field.

The Young Farmer

The next generation, already making a difference.

The Family Farm

Generations working the land together.

The Farm Worker

The skilled hands every farm depends on.

The Innovator

A new idea that changed how the farm works.

Know a farmer who deserves to be seen?

The awards

Four ways to be recognised.

Beyond the day

Recognition that lasts beyond the season.

Something the whole farm can be proud of.

Trust with buyers

Independent recognition customers and buyers can see.

The next generation

Showing young people what a farming career can be.

Connections

Meet farmers and rural businesses from across the UK.

Is this for me?

You do not need a big farm.

Judges consider the size, type and location of every farm, so a small upland holding can win against a large lowland estate.

Figures can be given as ranges or percentages.

Nothing in an entry is shared beyond the judging panel.

How well you farm matters more than how much land you farm.

The question isn't:

“Is our farm big enough?”

A better question might be:

“Are we farming well?”

How judging stays fair

Recognition only counts when it is earned fairly.

The value of an award depends on the integrity behind it, so the way entries are judged should be clear before anyone enters.

Free to enter

Nominating and entering cost nothing. No category depends on buying a ticket, a table or a package.

Independent judging

Entries are scored by an independent panel, not by the organisers, working under a confidentiality agreement.

Clear criteria

Every category publishes what the judges look for, so you can read it before you enter.

Conflicts managed

Judges declare any conflict of interest and stand aside from the entries it touches.

Sponsors support the awards. They never decide the results.

Nominate

The best farmers never put themselves forward.

They say:

“It is just farming.”

“The weather did most of it.”

“The whole family did it.”

And sometimes that is exactly why somebody else needs to say:

“They made the difference.”

“They deserve to be recognised.”

If you know a farmer, grower or rural business like that, put their name forward. It takes a minute.

How it works

From a name to the night itself.
