About this category
This award recognises a farm that has invested in renewable energy or cut its use of energy, water, fuel, fertiliser or feed, saving money and reducing its impact. Judges look for the savings achieved and the thinking behind them.

Additional criteria
Entries should include a short account of the farm or business, supporting figures such as yields, herd or flock performance, costs or margins where relevant, and, where possible, comments from customers, buyers, advisers or neighbours. Figures can be given as ranges or percentages and nothing in an entry is shared beyond the judging panel. Judges consider the size, type and location of the farm, so a small upland holding competes on equal terms with a large lowland estate.
